The following are candidates for the CASE District VII Board of Directors, to be considered via electronic ballot of the district's participating membership coordinators in June 2016.

Mike BerglerChair-Elect: Mike Bergler, CFRE
Executive Director of Campaign Operations and Constituent Relations
Concordia University Irvine (Calif.)

Mike Bergler is the executive director of campaign operations and constituent relations at Concordia University Irvine. His responsibilities include alumni and parent programs, church and community relations, communications, finance, human resources, and a comprehensive campaign.

Previous positions at University of California, Riverside, Chapman University and the University of California, Irvine comprise his 20-plus year career and include roles in alumni and parent programs, annual giving, and advancement services.

Mike served on the CASE VII Conference Committee for several years as a track chair, sponsorship chair, programs chair and arrangements chair. He was a faculty member for the CASE workshop of Parent Programs for three years. Most recently, Mike has served as Awards Chair for District VII since 2013. He also served as Board Secretary in 2015-2016.

Lori A. RedfearnTreasurer: Lori A. Redfearn
Assistant Vice Chancellor, Advancement Services
California State University Office of the Chancellor (Calif.)

Lori A. Redfearn is assistant vice chancellor of advancement services for the California State University (CSU) Office of the Chancellor. She also serves as vice president and chief operating officer for the CSU system's institutionally-related foundation managing $25 million in assets.

Lori began service on the CASE District VII board of directors in 2011 and is currently its treasurer. She previously served on the national task force developing the CASE Advancement Investment Metrics Study. She co-chaired the Chief Advancement Officers session for the 2008 CASE District VII conference and chaired a special track for deans at the 2006 CASE District VII conference.

As assistant vice chancellor, Lori provides strategic leadership for 23 CSU universities by encouraging system-wide best practices, performance benchmarking and accountability standards. She oversees the analysis of institutional advancement data; coordinates training and program resources; and develops policies and procedures.

Emily RankinSecretary: Emily Rankin
Director of Development, School of Leadership and Education Sciences
University of San Diego (Calif.)

Emily Rankin is charged with securing major gifts for the University of San Diego School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES). She works with the dean of SOLES to develop a comprehensive fundraising program for private support from alumni, friends, faculty, and staff. In addition, Emily oversees the school's alumni and marketing efforts.

Emily has spent over a decade working for non-profits, including Opera Pacific, Byrd Hoffman Foundation, and Whittier College. Prior to joining USD and SOLES, she worked for 10 years at Scripps College, first as the director of alumnae relations and then as senior advancement officer and director of campaign volunteers. Emily currently sits on the board of the Council for Advancement and the Support of Education (CASE) for District VII, focusing on professional development workshops.
