The Chief Executive Officer Leadership Award was established by District VII in 1999 to honor institutional leaders for outstanding contributions to their campus communities, for efforts to promote public understanding of education, and for support of advancement at their campuses. Two awards will be presented this year: one to the CEO of an institution of higher education and one to the CEO of an independent school. Click here for the 2007 CEO Award winner, Dr. Janet L. Holmgren.

The deadline for nominations for the CEO Award is Friday, August 22, 2008. The persons selected will be honored the Tribute Luncheon at the CASE District Conference on Monday, December 8, 2008 at the Hyatt Embarcadero, San Francisco, California and must be present to receive the award. They will also be honored at the CASE International conference in July, 2008.

This award will recognize a District VII member institution president, headmaster, chancellor, system head, or other institutional CEO for outstanding efforts to promote understanding and support of education.

Nominees must demonstrate the ability to:

  • Create a vision and inspire others
  • Establish a positive image for their institution while leading it to even higher levels of success
  • Increase their institution's stature in the community
  • Increase innovation and risk-taking among employees
  • Support all aspects of advancement at their institution

This award is an opportunity to identify and recognize CEOs at educational institutions for their contributions to their campus community and for their support of advancement efforts.

To nominate a CEO, please send a vita and exactly three letters of recommendation for each nominee with examples of what the CEO has accomplished to meet the above criteria. An advancement officer may nominate his or her CEO but should encourage others outside the institution to do so. Persons who have retired in calendar year 2007 can be nominated.
