Jon McBride is a media relations and social media manager at Brigham Young University. Since he started in this role, the university has been ranked no. 8 in the nation by the Higher Ed Social Media Engagement Report. McBride has excelled at integrating social media with other advancement functions and pursuing quality over quantity. He is also effective at building up other professionals and helping them advance their careers.

One of McBride's nominators for this award shared the following story: "During the 2014 Winter Olympics, where BYU student Kate Hansen competed in the luge event and placed 10th, Hansen had a unique warmup routine of dancing to only Beyoncé's music to prepare psychologically for her runs. Jon took the lead in pitching to Beyoncé's publicist to post about Kate on Beyoncé's Facebook page, which had 61 million followers. The post drew more than 33 thousand likes and provided great publicity for Kate and BYU. This is only one example of Jon's great work."

McBride has presented, spoken, and moderated at CASE conferences. He was the 2014 CASE Utah keynote speaker, has been a judge for CASE District VII awards, and has moderated an annual social media panel for CASE Utah.
Outside of CASE, McBride won the highly distinguished "Best of Track" designation at the eduWeb Digital Summit. He has presented extensively on influencer marketing in higher education and on the utilization of student-based social media "street teams" on campus.
