A graduate of Snow College and Utah State University, Spencer Cox got his law degree in Virginia, worked for a law firm in Salt Lake City and then settled down in his home town of Fairview. But as a first-term state representative, he received a surprise invitation to be lieutenant governor. He still lives in Fairview, with his wife and four children, but he travels throughout the state. He enjoys Utah's back country and plays bass guitar in a local rock band.

A native of Macon, Georgia, Jeff Battcher attended the University of Utah on a football scholarship. He later received degrees in business from two Georgia schools and began a career in strategic communications. He led public relations teams for Delta Air Lines and BellSouth and now consults with Fortune 500 companies such as Hewlett Packard, UPS and Sony. He also runs a sports reputation management firm and is a member of the Macon Sports Hall of Fame.
