This workshop will be an interactive conversation
about the business case for social media campaigns
in nonprofit organizations. The conversation will be
focused on using new social media tools to broaden
donor constituencies and to enhance stewardship activities.
The “viral” spread of information via social
media will be addressed with recommendations for nonprofits
to make best use of a communication medium in which
the organization does not fully control the message.
We will also discuss economically feasible ways for
nonprofits to engage in digital communication without
requiring new investment in digital arts staff people.
Finally, we will discuss comparisons between engaging
social media for philanthropic purposes and political
campaigns that solicit contributions via electronic
means.
