As a senior person in
advancement, people call on you for advice and counsel.
You have particular expertise in an area, and you have
often thought that you would like to share it in a
workshop. Or maybe you would yearn for an open discussion
with like-minded professionals of topics impacting
your life, improving your own network.
CASE
District VII encourages professional development
and communication. Senior professionals enjoy an obligation
to give back, to help advance to the field of practice,
and to keep current themselves. To supplement the programs
offered by CASE International as well as the District's
annual three-day conference, the District's Education
Committee encourages members to lead one-day workshops on
a particular topic or to host one-day forums,
seminar-type meetings for communities of practice.
Examples
of one-day programs are Writing for Development
Workshop, Working
with the Electronic Media Workshop, and Major Gifts Roundtable. These
drive-in programs cost less
than $99 for parking, lunch and materials and attendance
is limited to a participatory number of 35 or less.
CASE District VII also partners with
other educational organizations in presenting one-day
conferences exploring relevant topics. One such
conference is the upcoming Navigating the Rising
Tide of Community College Advancement on October 15 – 17,
2008 at the San Diego
Marriott Mission Valley Hotel presented
by CASE and
the Institute for Community College Development [ICCD]. Visit www.ncccfweb.org for
more information.
Volunteering to host a workshop,
one-day conference, or a forum on your campus is relatively
easy, fulfilling, and fun, as you meet new professional
friends and energize your own career. Guidelines
for hosting a one-day program are available from Robert
A. Kerr or
call 530-754-8941.
